Ingredients

Why metric?

Metric avoids regional spoon ambiguity. US uses 5 mL tsp, 15 mL tbsp and 240 mL cup. Small masses stay in grams unless a verified recipe conversion exists. More on measurements

  • 2 bananas, peeled (240 g)
  • 65 g rolled oats
  • 200 g plain low-fat yoghurt
  • 300 ml reduced-fat milk (309 g)
  • 15 g honey
  • 1 g ground cinnamon
  • 25 g almonds, ground with the oats

Method

  1. Blitz the oats and almonds together for 20 seconds first. Whole oats stay gritty in a smoothie no matter how long you blend them afterwards.
  2. Add the banana, yoghurt, milk, honey and cinnamon and blend 45 seconds, until completely smooth.
  3. Pour into two glasses. It thickens as it stands, so drink it soon or loosen with milk.

Serve

Sipped over a few minutes rather than drunk down in one is easier on a full stomach.
